Biography

Wit Over Ignorance

(A losing battle)

I'm a US-based correspondent for a British newspaper. I was born in Britain but haven't lived there for almost 25 years. I've worked in 70+ countries, and only wish that I'd started carrying a camera much sooner. I have moved house on average every two years of my life.

I have four daughters, each a glorious challenge. I have a French wife, as should everyone. I didn't have a very large family, until I inherited hers. Now I have about 4,500 French cousins.

I've worked alone for much of my professional career, and have become slightly strange as a result. Whether I'm any stranger than someone who's worked in an office for 25 years, others will have to judge...

I currently use a Canon EOS 20D, with a 17-40mm f4.0L wideangle zoom and my pride and joy, a 70-200 f2.8L IS telephoto zoom, both Canons. I also use a Canon 60mm f2.8 macro, a 50mm f1.8 (the legendary 'plastic fantastic') and an exotic array of Polaroids and other toy cameras.

In general I try not to take things too seriously, but I have begun to get quite serious about trying to make beautiful pictures, some of which can be found via the Flickr link on this page.

After a number of false starts I decided to devote this blog to the women in my life.
