Well, the finishing stretch is in sight and Zelie's fifth birthday - not to mention the final entry in this blog - is only days away. So little time, so many last-minute bits to add, not least a few snaps from our two--week absence in France, which yielded close to 1,000 photographs. No time for waxing philosophical, regretful, nostalgic or even the floors - let me pile straight in with a random selection of my rainbow daughters.....

 

......followed by the ineffable delight they took in building large wooden towers at their grandparents' home, only to smash them down.....

I don't know why it should be that younger daughters always win at cards, but when Cleo was growing up with Delaney, it was Cleo who always cleaned us out, and now it's Zelie growing up with Anouk, the last shall be first once again. Must be something about sisterly competition and a burning desire for one upmanship, or one upgirlship, as it's known around here.

Call it what you will, Zelie aged four is a demon at Uno, and I'll soon be introducing her to high stakes online poker.
